One of the most cost-effective improvements you can make to your car, improving power and economy. The VWR Panel Filter simply fits directly into the airbox as a direct replacement for the standard restrictive paper air filter element.

VWR’s High-Flow Airfilters – the most cost effective power and economy increase you can make.

We developed the range of VWR High-Flow filters to replace the restrictive factory paper filters with an improved, high flow and reusable lifetime foam filter. This upgrade really is one of the most cost-effective improvements you can make to increase power and fuel economy. The filter allows a significant increase in airflow into the turbocharger, by removing the inherant restrictions of the standard paper panel filter, so allowing the engine to breathe better and operate more efficiently.

Result? More mid-range power and improved economy, without risking your warranty.

The filters were developed for use in the race cars, many of which are required to run with the standard airbox. So we needed to get the highest flow efficiency possible, but combined with the most effective levels of filtration from contaminants in the air. The end result is the exact panel filter that we use in our race cars, but also one of the most popular modifications to make to a road car.

CONSTRUCTION

We specify three different layers of open-cell polyurethane foam, giving the highest level of filtration to protect the engine from all the contaminants in the air. The foam we specify is the best in the market – the same specification as used by certain Formula One teams

The foam layers are held in place by a stainless steel open mesh, supported by a rubber seal to provide the all-important airtight closure against the car’s airbox.

There are of course cheaper, single-layer filters on the market. We’ve tried many of these over the years; but in our experience they do not offer satisfactory levels of flow and filtration – meaning a compromise for your engine (sometimes quite significant) for the sake of a small price difference.

PERFORMANCE

With this extra airflow, our tests have shown that the fitment of the VWR Panel Filter can deliver an additional 15NM of torque on a standard 2.0TSI engine, thus really making a difference to the feeling of mid-range power of the car.

With the improved efficiency, many customers have noticed an improvement in fuel economy in normal driving, typically of around 10% depending on model.

Fitting is simple – open the airbox, remove the standard filter, and replace it directly with the VWR Panel Filter.
