► The Volkswagen Racing Big Brake packages

The Volkswagen Racing Big Brake Conversion gives a real supercar look and feel in the braking department.  A much bigger disc gives greater heat capacity, thus reducing the effect of fade, whilst the stiffer calipers and stainless steel brake lines reduce the compliance in the braking system.

Brake Kit We developed this brake kit for our Volkswagen Racing cars, and have now used them on numerous track and road cars built by RacingLine.

We needed a front and rear brake kit that can stand up to the demands of circuit racing, yet is affordable and reliable.  Surprisingly, none of the established brake companies could offer us what we wanted, so we commissioned our own development programme.  This Volkswagen Racing Front and Rear Big Brake kit is the result.

Brake DiscThe front callipers are ultra-lightweight 6 piston units, finished in red with the ‘R’ logo engraved in.  These clamp enormous 360 mm ventilated and drilled floating discs.  This set up reduces the unsprung weight of the standard brakes, and unsurprisingly provides significantly better braking, both in terms of pedal response and resistance to fade in hard use.

Built specifically for the Golf 5 platform cars (so suitable for A3, Leon, Jetta, Octavia, Eos, TT, Caddy and so on), the front brakes require a minimum wheel diameter of 18” because of the disc size.   The kit fits straight onto any of these cars without modification.

Brakes on Car The rear kit (available separately, but we recommend fitment with our front kit) retains the standard rear calliper but provides a larger, 2-piece rear drilled disc.  A spacer bracket relocates the calliper in order to match the larger disc.

Please note that as high performance brakes, pad and disc life tends to be shorter when used hard than the standard brakes would be.

Prices for the front brake kit from £1661.10 plus VAT and fitting - contact us for details.
