► Volkswagen Racing Exhausts
The exhaust system is one of the areas of any car that makes a big difference to power, sound of the engine, and even appearance.
Through our Volkswagen Racing developments over the past years, we have developed an optimised exhaust system for the current Golf GTI mk5 . The Volkswagen Racing Exhaust system is available in two parts. The Rear System replaces the standard exhaust from the catalytic converter back to the tailpipes, and offers a substantial weight-saving over standard. In our tests, this will release another few horsepower from the car which is ideally suited to our stage 1 Engine Remap. It has been carefully refined to never be boomy or intrusive at motorway speeds, yet to give the engine sound a much richer exhaust note when revved and driven harder.
The twin tailpipes are attractive yet discreet, with a larger diameter pipe than the standard car, and the ‘R’ logo etched onto each.
For the ultimate performance, and to release the higher power outputs from the Stage 2 and 3 Volkswagen Racing Engine Remaps, the Rear System has to be fitted in conjunction with the Front System. The Front System, as developed for our Volkswagen Racing cars uses a much larger diameter downpipe from the turbocharger to a high flow 100 cell catalytic converter. Together, this greatly improves gas flow away from the engine, allowing valuable extra power to be extracted from the engine.

All Volkswagen Racing Exhausts are entirely road legal, with only a marginal increase in decibel levels. More important for us has been to find the optimum efficiency and through this, to deliver a richer and more pleasing exhaust note. All Volkswagen Racing exhausts are made in the UK from aircraft-grade stainless steel to the very highest standards.
